Why Handcrafted Soap

Glycerin which is good for the skin is still there You will not need additional moisturizers

The short answer to the question of why hand crafted soap is that the commercial brands dry out your skin

The skin may absorb herbs But the quantity I used might be too small

How much to charge for a bar of soap

Material cost might be 1 to 2 dollars

Depending on the oils, Corn oil in 5 gal jug $5 / gal at Costco in 09 Almond $20 per gallon

Herbs I did not track the price Some harvested Some donated

Takes 4hr to make a gal batch 30 bars Grinding 5 or so herbs took 20 minutes I measured only 16 oz oil at a time Might be quicker with an actual scale rather that a balance beam set up

The bars are bit different size and weight The weight difference is partly due to the oils weigh different amounts when they cure

You need to make a label, cut the soap after it cures a bit, put on racks to dry and cure, some marketing, take orders, package and ship

Things got complicated

1 gal of oil at a time was as much as I could handle

That is about 30 bath size soap

Different oil combinations weigh different amounts

Each batch I made is unique

Choose a different style and this font got changed to all caps Here and a couple other places

Switched to a different theme and the all caps was not in the other places But this was still all caps except where I had types some sutff

I did not do a shopping cart because the batches were only 30 bars So I was worried about managing inventory Or maybe I thought I had to pay more for the cart?

I will keep track of inventory manually Then remove the soap from the list

The page insisted on displaying a map I had not put in an address since this is online sales only And it choose San Francisco Bay area for the map So I put in the house address

2 23 20 I used the sections options when I set up the soap list But it has a limit of 20 per page

So I made 4 pages with the names range for a header

6 27 20 have 48 batches out of boxes
